WAYS TO FIGHT BACK AGAINST SHAITAN

Are you having marital problems?
Do you procrastinate?
Are you forgetful and absentminded?
Are you fearful of poverty and other thing besides Allah (SWT)?
Do you tell little white lies? Do you tell lies?
Do you feel confused and restless?
Do you get into arguments about the Qur’an and the Sunnah without knowledge?
Do you feel it is right to call out your Muslim brother to fight when you can not get your way?
Are you a spendthrift?
Do you like to call people out of their name; giving them offensive nick names?
Do you feel comfortable at home in the nude or exposing you private parts to others?

Every one of these is caused by the whispering of Shaitan! We have forgotten about Shaitan and he is having his way with us. The Muslim Ummah is and has been under attack by the armies of Shaitan and very few of us are fighting back. Look at the Ummah around the world; we can write volumes of books on the destruction that is present due to our lazy indifference to Shaitan. Shaitan laughs at us and we seem to not to care. There are some Muslims who do not believe Shaitan exist and there some who don’t believe he has much to do with them. How wrong they are. There is a saying, “A chain is as strong as its weakest link. Well, the Muslim Ummah is as strong as it weakest member. We have too many weak members.

Well, it is time to go on the offence! We the True Believers must stop allowing Shaitan to have his way with us! Let’s start an aggressive offensive against Shaitan. We can not beat him but we sure can limit the amount of influence he has on us. We can bring peace back to our homes. The Muslim Ummah can become the model to mankind as it once was.

I have compiled a list of weapons that Allah (SWT) and Prophet Muhammad (SAW) have given us to repel Shaitan; Qur’anic verses and hadiths. Please study and try very hard to put everything you find there into practice every day.

WARNING: Shaitan will fight back…he will get real ugly when you start repelling him if you haven’t been doing these things in the past. Do not let him stop you! It will be tough and hard to keep the fight up; but once you start don’t stop no matter what he does! We are one Ummah and let us wage a mighty war against Shaitan who is destroying our very souls. Remember we can not beat Shaitan but with the help of Allah (SWT) we can keep him at bay!

REPELLING SHAYTAN

The Congregation (Jama’ah):

“If there are three men (or in a town or in the desert (open space) among whom prayer is not established in jama’ah (congregation), except Shaitan will overcome them. So, cling to the jama’ah for indeed the wolf devours the lone sheep.” [ Abu Dawud’s Sunan (547)]

“A single rider (on a journey) is a Shaitan, and two riders (on a journey) are two Shaitan’s, but three (or more on a journey) are a company of riders.” [Abu Dawud’s Sunan (2607)]

“When the people stopped (and encamped) at a place they dispersed (and spread out from each other) in the woods and valleys, then the Messenger of (SWA) said, Your dispersing in these woods and valleys is from Shaitan.”

After that they did not stop (or encamp) at any place except that they kept so close together. They would be encamped to such an extent that it used to be said that if a cloth were spread over them, it would cover them all.” [Abu Dawud’s Sunan (1664)]

SEEKING REFUGE IN ALLAH

Allah the Most High says, ”So when you want to recite the Qur’an, seek refuge with Allah from Shaitan, the outcast.” [Surah An-Nahl (16):98]

When entering the Masjid:

A’uodhu bilaahil adbeem wa bi wajhihil kareem wa sultanibil qadeem min as-shaitaani rajeem. “I seek refuge (and protection) in Allah, The Great, and in His Noble Face and everlasting authority, from the accursed Shaitan.” [Abu Dawud’s Sunan (466)]

When whispering during the prayer:

“O Messenger of Allah (SAW) verily Shaitan comes between me and my prayer and recitation making me confused The Messenger of Allah (SAW) replied, that is a shaitan called Khanzab so if you sense his presence then seek refuge in Allah from him and spittle on your left three times. He said, I said that and Allah took him away from me.” [Saheed Muslim (14/189-190)]

When angry:

“I was sitting with the Prophet of Allah (SWA) and two men were insulting one another. He face one of them had become red and his jugular veins puffed up (out of anger), so the Prophet (SWA) said. ‘I surely know a word would he have said it, that which he is experiencing would have left him, “A’uoodhu billaahi min ash-shaitaani rajeem.”

“I seek refuge (and protection in Allah from the accused Shaitan.”
He replied, ‘Did I become mad!’ [Saheed Bukhari (3282,6048,61150; Saheed Muslim (16/163-1640]

“And if evil whisper comes to you from Shaitan then seek refuge with Allah. Verily He is the All-Seer, The All-Knower.” [Surah al-A’raaf (7):200]

When one sees something in his dream which he dislikes.

“The good dream is from Allah so if any of you sees something in his dream that he likes then he should tell only ones he loves and if he sees something he dislikes then he should seek refuge with Allah from the evil of the dream for it is from Shaitan so let him spittle three times and not tell anyone about it for it cannot harm him.” [Saheed Bukhari (7004); Saheed Muslim (15/19-20)]

Regarding the evil eye and jealousy:

“I seek refuge (and protection) with Your Perfect Words from every Shaitan and poisonous creature and from every evil, harmful envious eye.” [Saheed Bukhari (3371)

Quarrelling and arguing over the Qur’an (Don’t do it!)

I think, I feel, I believe are not acceptable ways to discuss Allah’s Speech, the Qur’an. You must know (have proper knowledge, i.e., I know based on etc.) according to proper tafsir from Allah, His Messenger (SAW) or the Salaf. Your personal opinion or tafsir is of Shaitan. The Ummah doesn’t need your personal opinion of Allah’s Speech.

“And among man s he who disputes concerning Allah, without knowledge, and follows every rebellious devil. From him (shaytan) is decreed that whoever follows him, he will mislead him, and will drive him to the torment of the Fire.”
[Surah al-Hajj (22):3-4]

“Verily those who dispute about the ayat of Allah without any authority having come to them there is nothing else in their breasts except pride. They will never have it (prophet hood). So seek refuge in Allah, verily it is He who is the All-Hearer, the All-Seer.” [Surah al-Ghafir(40):56]

And among man is he who disputes about Allah without knowledge or guidance or a Book. Bending his neck in pride and leading too astray from the Path of Allah. For him there is disgrace in this worldly life, and the Day of Resurrection. We shall make him taste the torment of burning (Fire). That is because of what your hands have sent forth, and verily, Allah is not unjust to (His) servants.” [Surah al-Hajj(22):8-10]

THE BISMILLAH! IN THE NAME OF ALLAH!

When leaving the house:

“Bismillaahi tawwakalu ‘ala Allaahi la hawla la quwata illa billaahi”
(In the name of Allah, I put my trust in Allah, there is neither power nor might except with Allah) It will be said to him: You are guided, sufficed and protected. Shaitan will turn away from him and one Shaitan will say to another: What can you do about a man who is guided, sufficed and protected.” [Abu Dawud’s Sunan (5090)]

When entering the house and when you eat:

“When a person enters his house and he remembers Allah’s name, as well as when he eats, Shaitan says: there is no way that we can inhabit and sleep here or eat at this house. However, when he enters the house without remembering the name of Allah, Shaitan says we have a place to live tonight; and if he does not remember the name of Allah at the time of eating, shaitan says we have tonight a place to stay and food to eat." [Saheed Muslim (The Book of Drinks (Kitab Al-Ashriba), Hadith #: 5006)]

Upon sexual intercourse:

“Bismillah Allahumma jannihna ash-shaitaan wa jannib ash-shaitaan marazaqatana.”
“In the name of Allah, O Allah, keep the Shaitan from us and keep Shaitan away from what You have blessed us with. Then Shaitan would never harm that child.
[Saheed Bukhari (141, 3271, 3283, 5165, 7396)]

Reciting certain portions of the Qur’an:

“Do not make your houses graves, for shaitan flees from a house which Surah al-Baqarah is recited.” [Saheed Muslim (6/67- Nawan)]

Reciting Ayat al-Kursi:

It was narrated that Abu Umamah Al-Bahili (RA) said: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said; “Whoever recites Ayat al-Kursi immediately after each prescribed Prayer, there will be nothing standing between him and his entering Paradise except death.” [an-Nasa’l, Ibn Sunni, at-Tabarani, ibn Hibban - Sahih]

When you lie down in your bed, recite Ayat al-Kursi, and then you will have a protector from Allah and no shaitan will come near you until morning comes. [Saheed Bukhari]

It is narrated from Abu Hurairah (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said; “In Surat- al-Baqarah there is a verse which is the best of all the verses of Qur’an. It is never recited in a house but Shaitan leaves: Ayat al-Kursi.”

Abdullah bin Mas’ud (RA) narrates that a person said to the Prophet (SAW): “O Messenger of Allah (SAW), teach me something through which Allah (SWT) will give me benefit.” He said: “Continue reciting Ayatul Kursi. This will be a means of protection for you, your children and even those houses which are near your house.”

It is reported by at-Tabrani that the Prophet (SAW) said: “The one who recites Ayat al-Kursi after the conclusion of an obligatory prayer, he is under the care of Allah until the next prayer commences.” [at-Tabarani’s At Targheeb wat-Tarheeb (2:435)]

The Prostration of Recitation:

“When the son of Adam reads a verse of prostration, then prostates, shaitan departs from him and cries saying, ‘Woe to me the son of Adam was ordered to prostrate and he did so and he will be granted paradise, and I was ordered to prostate and disobeyed so I will enter the Hellfire.” [Saheed Muslim (2/68)]

For the fifteen places in the Qur’an to prostrate go to:

The Adhan and the Iqamah:

“When the call to prayer is made Shaitan runs away and breaks wind to drown out (in order to not to hear the adhan). When the adhan is completed he returns but when the iqamah is proclaimed he again turns and flees, when it is finished he returns to cause distraction in the heart of a person saying: Remember such and such, remember how many rakats he has prayed. If he doesn’t recall the number of rakats prayed, he prostrates in prostration of forgetfulness.” [Saheed Bukhari (608, 1222,1231,3285-al-fath); Saheed Muslim (4/95)]

“Whenever the adhan is called, shaitan runs back vehemently.” [Saheed Muslim (4/90-9] Even if said when it is not time for salat.

Yawning:

“Yawning is from Shaitan. If one of you yawns, restrain it as much as you can. If one of you says, ‘Ah!’ while yawning, Shaitan laughs at him.” [Saheed Bukhari and Saheed Muslim]

Straightening the Rows During Salah:

“Stand close together in your rows, bring them close together and line up your shoulders for by The One in whose Hand is my soul, I can see shaitan passing through the gaps in rows like a missile.” [.” Abu Dawud’s Sunan (667)]

Prostration of Forgetfulness:

“If one of you starts to doubt in his prayer and does not know how many rakats he has prayed – three or four – then let him cast away the doubt and build upon what he is certain of. Then let him perform two prostrations before giving salaam. So if he has prayed his prayer will become even for him, and if he prayed the complete four rakats it will be a humiliation for shaitan,” [Saheed Muslim (5/60)]

Moving the Finger in Tashahud:

“It is more severe upon the shaitan than iron, meaning the finger.” [Ahmad’s Musnad (2/119)]

Remembrance(ad-Dhikr)of Allah:

On the authority of Abu Hurairah (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (SWA) said; “Whoever says:’ La illah illa-allahu wahdahu la shareka lahu, lahul mulku lahul hamdu wa huwa ala kulli shayin qader’, (there is none worthy of worship except Allah alone, He has no partner, sovereignty belongs to Him and for Him is all praise and He is capable over all things), one hundred times in a day there is a reward for him equal to the freeing of ten slaves, and one hundred good actions are recorded for him, and one hundred wrong actions are removed from his record. That will be a safeguard for him against shaytan on that day until the evening, and no one brings anything more excellent than this except the one who has done more than this (that is, who recites these words more than on hundred times).”
[Saheed Bukhari (3293,64830; Saheed Muslim (17/170]

Allah! there is no Allah but He, the living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede in His presence except as He permits? He knows what (appears to His creatures as) Before or After or Behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except as He wills. His Throne doth extend over the heavens and the earth, and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them. For He is the Most High, the Supreme (in glory). 255
